Geoff, Dilated Cardiomyopathy
Hello,
I am 43 years old, and very active and fit. I was recently diagnosed with DCM as found by an echocardiogram recommended for a heart murmur. My ejection fraction is 40. I am interested in participating in your cardio protocol. I have mentioned this to my cardiologist and he does not want to have "competing doctors". However, I believe there is a natural way and supplements have to be helpful for the repair of the heart muscle.
Currently I am taking Coreg 6.25 mg twice per day.
Lipitor, 500 mg once per day.
Heart Failure Protocol:
CoQ10 100 mg twice per day
Taurine 1000 mg in the morning and 500 mg in the evening
L-Carnitine 1000 mg in the morning and 500 mg in the evening
(Should I change the times of these, since I have been taking them together?)
I have had no real symptoms from this condition, and my exercise schedule is fairly active for my age. I run, swim, and lift weights.
I will be undergoing a stress test in 2 weeks, then an angiograph to determine the extent of the damage.
My cardiomyopathy protocol using supplements has been ongoing for 2 weeks. I did not begin on phase 1 as OKed by Corrij since I have had no fatigue or activity issues.
Willy and Corrij, do you have any further recommendations at this time, or should I proceed to Phase 3 as you have outlined in 2-4 more weeks?
Thank you for your assistance.

Hello Geoff execelent to have you on our forum
Skipping Phase I is oke I understand Corrij's reason. But................
If you have an apetite for sweets in the afternoon add chromium.
Change l-carnitine --> l-acetyl-carnitine the next time, keep the same dosage
Start with pahse 3, but add a good multivitamin with sufficient folic acid and B6, I will change the protocol next month because of new research, see
http://circ.ahajournals.org/cgi/content/full/97/5/437
and if you want more home work
http://utopia.knoware.nl/~wwitsel/main/ ... b-vitamine
Ask your cardiologist to check your EJF after 9 months from now.

Willie,
Thanks for your advice. I will begin phase 3, and switch to L acetyl carnitine. Do you recommend taking the amino acids at different times of the day, and not together? Is it OK to take the full 1500mg of taurine and carnitine at once, or should I split it up throughout the day?
Thanks,
Geoff

Hello Geoff,
First of all a very warm welcome on this forum
I just wanted to say that it would be best to take the amino acids
separately on a empty stomach.
For instance the carnitine half an hour before breakfast or two hours after breakfast
The taurine half an hour before lunch or diner. or two hours after
This is to get an as big as possible effect.
.
The same counts for the argine/ornithine. this is to avoid the amino acid competition.
These three you're not allowed to take at the same time.
the carnitine in the morning, the taurine in the afternoon and the argine/ornithine in the evening.
If you have any question, don`t hesitate,
regards,
Corrij

No, HGH releasers, arg/orn, will be used last.
Phase 3 is all about not getting a heart attack (atherosclerosis).
You can ask your cardiologist to perform the follwing blood tests to see what your risks are to get a heart attack

Willy,
I am a bit confused, in your e-mail dated 4 Nov, you stated, " Start with Phase 3 but add a good multivitamin with sufficient folic acid and B-6."
Next, you said to skip Phase 3.
Should I be adding the following: alpha lipoic acid, vitamin E and vitamin C. This is what the website states in the 10 steps to treat cardiomyopayhy website. Do you recommend these supplements at this time?

Hello Geoff,
Youre now taking Q10,Taurine and Carnitine?
You can added vitamine C 3000 mg a day,vitamine E 1 x 512 IE a day and a really good multi vitamin.
I also recommend the Chromium, I did before in one of our mails.
The other supplements we added in a later stage,in a few weeks, not to fast
Let your body get used to the supplements.
So your list is at this moment,
Q10
Taurine
Carnitine
Vitamin C
Vitamin E
Multi vitamin
Chromium
regards Corrij

Next Phase?
Corrij,
It has been 4 weeks on this phase of the protocol, currently, I am taking:
Q10
Taurine
Carnitine
Vitamin C
Vitamin E
Multi-Vitamin
Chromium
I currently feel fine, and I recently had a stress test with the cardiologist. I had good results on the stress test.
What is the next phase of the dilated cardiomyopathy protocol?
Thanks for your help.
